This Privacy Policy explains what information FixSpike (“we”, “us”) collects when you use fixspike.com (the “Site”) and our calculator, and how it is used.

Information we collect

Calculator inputs. The numbers and choices you enter into the calculator (carbs, glycemic index, checkboxes) are processed entirely in your browser and are never sent to our servers.
AI features (optional). If you use the meal-description parser, the “ask why” chat, or an extra-language translation, the text you type is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate a response. We do not attach your name, email, or any account identifier to these requests. We do not have accounts.
IP address. Requests to our AI endpoint include your IP address, used only to apply a temporary rate limit (to prevent abuse) and automatically discarded after about one hour. We do not log or store IP addresses long-term.
Local storage. Your browser’s local storage caches translated text (for languages beyond English/Spanish) purely to avoid re-translating on every visit. This stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.
Contact requests. If you email us, we will have whatever information you choose to include in that email.

What we don’t do

We don’t require accounts, logins, or personal profiles.
We don’t run advertising trackers or sell data to third parties.
We don’t use your inputs to train AI models. Requests go to OpenAI’s API under their standard API data-use terms, which per OpenAI’s policy excludes API data from model training by default.

Third-party services

AI features are powered by OpenAI. Requests you send through our meal parser, chat, or translation features are subject to OpenAI’s own privacy policy. Our hosting provider may log standard server access data, like any web host, for security and uptime purposes.

Children’s privacy

This Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Because we don’t maintain accounts or persistent personal data, there is generally nothing to access, correct, or delete. If you have a specific privacy question or request, contact us using the details on our Contact page.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
